宮根さん、卒業パーティーなのに多いにパフォーマンス
ABC「おはよう朝日」宮根さんの卒業パーティーが３月２６日の夜行われました。自分が主人公だちゅうのに、一生懸命に盛り上げました。２０年間もこの番組を司会した宮根さんだから、集まった方々の人数も半端じゃなかった。ステージの上で挨拶するゲスト一人一人と宮根さんがやり取りして、雰囲気を明るくした。
挨拶のあと、なんとレポーターさん達とバンドを組んで歌った。

僕の卒業パーティは半端じゃねー
３月２３日の夜、「おはよう朝日」のオラの最終回の前夜祭に卒業パーティをやってくれました。皆さん朝はいつも早いというのに、こんなに元気。
オラも元気だった
まっ、オラもそれなりに。めちゃおいしい刺身に、かに、牛肉のたたき、すし、等々。それに熱燗の立山。
魚を沢山食べた御陰か、気持ちはとっても「フィッシュ」
いつもまじめな三上さんまでも盛り上がりました。公表出来ない写真も沢山ストックしている。
とにかく楽しかった。皆さん、ありがとう。
不慣れなオラだけど、８年間も可愛がってくれて、「おはよう朝日」のスタッフとキャストの皆さん、
本当にありがとうございました。 また、会おうで〜。

NHK BS-2
この前、５月７日放送の「ごきげん・歌謡・笑・劇団」
の収録をしました。ロケーションは栃木県芳賀町民会館でした。
クイズもあり、コントあり、もちろん歌はたくさんあり。
I participated in a program for NHK’s BS-2 Channel on 3/15 called “Kimimaro’s Full Course — Upbeat Song and Comedy Troupe”.
It’s a full scale “variety program”. We had a quiz, we had a comedy skit, and of course, lots of Enka (ballad singing).
Since the show is not going to air until May 7th, I am probably not supposed to give out too many details about who the guests were, what they sang, etc. Rest assured, if you are INTO Enka, this is the show for you.

Becky is another one of my favorite actresses
Becky and I worked together on the set of “Nodame no Cantabile” in France in late 2008.
She is really versatile. Not only can she act, but she can work as a commentator, caster, reporter, really anything. And she’s funny to boot.
Wish I had half her talent.

比嘉まなみさんと「どんど晴れ」の打ち上げで
NHK２００８年朝の連続ドラマ
「どんど晴れ」の主人公、比嘉まなみさんと貴重な写真が出来ました。
この写真真夏に撮ったから、二人ともすずしい格好しているけど、その前の年、秋頃から岩手県内のロケで寒い思いが多かった。
One of my favorite actresses in the whole world — Manami Higa, the lead in the NHK morning drama “Dondo Hare” in 2008.
She is rapidly moving onto bigger and better things. I wish her all the best.

朝日放送の「おはよう朝日」宮根さんとの花見２００８春大阪
２００８年の大阪での花見会はかなり盛り上がりました。
アナウンサーの宮根さんは、東京マラソンを５時間以内に走らなければ、自分の頭をボーズ刈りにする。
残念なことに、ちょっと努力が足りなかったか、約束通り、まるくしました。
でも、いやなやつだな。マルボーズにしても、似合うんだな。
オラがやったら、

This is my buddy Seiji Miyane, one of the busiest TV personalities in all Japan. This photo was taken during our annual flower viewing party at a park down in Osaka for the staff of “Ohayo Asashi” (“Good Morning, Asahi”). Miyane-san had just given himself a “buzz-cut” as penance for failing to finish the Tokyo Marathon in under five hours. He had made a promise to do so on a live TV program, so . . . . I guess self-inflicted public humiliation is the path to stardom in Japan. I’ll have to try that someday.

パックン君とクッキング戦争
名古屋のクッキング・ショーでなんと、パックンと腕比べになっちまった。どっちが日本通か、すごい競争になりました。
結局、このとき、オラ負けた。（パックンの方のおにぎりはちょっとだけ形が良かったとの判定でした。納得いかないけど。）
外タレ同士の「漢字王クイズ」では、オラが勝ったけど。
でも、パックンって、本当に日本の事くわしいよ。漢字も良く書けるし、
よー勉強してる。
This is a snap shot of Pakkun and me on a competetive cooking contest down in Nagoya. We traded barbs in Japanese while making “o-nigiri” (rice balls). It was a lot of fun. But he beat me — the judges thought his rice-balls looked a little more sophisticated. Mine were too rustic I guess.
That’s OK though. I beat him at a Kanji (Chinese characters) competition once on late night TV (despite the fact that he probably knows twice the number of Kanji that I do).

２００４年のサンコンさんの誕生日祝い
外タレ同士の付き合いも多い。
サンコンさんが毎年誕生日のお祝いを結構派手にやるんだよね。都内のホテルでサポーターが集まって、アフリカのギニアの仲間のパフォーマンスを楽しみながら、多いにお酒も呑む。
スカンダルの事は別として、いつも楽しく仕事を一緒にやらしてくれたし、根っからの明るさは魅力的です。
最近どうしているのかな、とにかく元気で頑張ってけらっしゃい。

FUJIの「億万長者と結婚する方法」で藤原紀香さんと
オラの家宝の一つ。
藤原紀香さんと結婚する役になったのは２０００年。
こんな貴重なスナップになんとサインまでも書いてくれた。
当時、紀香さんは英会話を勉強する事に夢中だった。
シーンとシーンの間にいろいろと話が出来て光栄でした。
もう一回、紀香さんとドラマしたいね。
This one is going to become a family heirloom. It’s a Poloroid snapshot of Norika Fujiwara, one of Japan’s best known actresses, and me as we walk down the aisle in the comedy-drama “How To Marry A Millionaire”. I’m supposed to be rich Texas oil man and she plays an agressive gold digger with a rather colorful past. I was just about to kiss the bride when a hit-man takes a pot shot at her. That cuts short the ceremony. I never did get that kiss. Darn.

高校生の頃の彼女、久しぶりに会った
いや、この番組こそ、ちょっとてれました。
「平成恋の物語」で高校生の時代の彼女をわざわざ日本に連れて、突然の出演。
来るのを知らないで、ただコメンテーターとして番組に出ると思ったら、急に赤面の主人公になってしまいました。
ケリーに会うのはうれしかったよ。分かれた後は友達として付き合いは保存。
でも、うちに帰ったら、女房にいろいろと説得。
This was another — er — slightly embarrassing program for me called “Heisei Koi no Monogatari” (“Love Story of the Heisei Era”). The film crew went to my old high school in California and interviewed a bunch of my old teachers for “interesting” stories. Then, unbeknownst to me, they brought my old high school sweetheart Carrie all the way over to Japan to surprise me as the highlight of the show. It was great to see her again — but I DID end up having to explain the situation to my wife after I got home.
